The number of women's flag football teams in Ohio is increasing, with the number of teams increasing from six in 2021 to over 120 in 2026. The Browns have led the charge, partnering with Northeast Ohio Flag Football to create the first Girls High School Flag Football division in the state. The state now sanctions a state tournament for girls' flag football. The number of high school athletic associations have also been sanctioned, with 17 states already having sanctioned girls' varsity flag championships.
