The Hooper-Lee-Nichols House, the second-oldest home in Cambridge, MA, is up for sale for $5.8 million. The 17th century Georgian mansion was built in 1684 and has been owned by the Cambridge Historical Society since 1957. It has been used as a historical society headquarters for seven decades and is currently being transformed into a private residence. The property, which dates back to the late 1600s and predates the Revolutionary War by nearly a century, boasts 10 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a coveted location near Harvard University. The home's final private owner was Frances Emerson, the daughter of financier William August White, who was gifted the house in 1923. The house is protected by historic preservation measures imposed by the Massachusetts Historical Commission safeguarding its interiors.
