Soccer players and coaches in Nebraska were hit by a rare weather phenomenon that appeared to lift up the field and approach them, causing them to feel pelted by rubber pellets. The phenomenon was captured on camera at a practice at CREIGHTON PREP and was described by OMAHA CHIEOROLOGIST Bill RANDBY as a rare occurrence. The athletes had to run out of the way and as they got closer to the sideline, it became more obvious what was happening. Dust devils occur in an open area where air rises and if there's a little gust of wind, they will start spinning like a mini tornado.
