Gustavo Prado, director of Trendo.mx, has stated that today's migrants are not contributing significantly to Mexican culture. This sentiment was prompted by the memory of Mathias Goeritz, a German immigrant who helped create Mexican modernity. Goeriz was born in Danzig in 1915 and moved to Berlin as a child, where he studied philosophy and art history. He later completed a doctorate in Art History and his theory of “emotional architecture.” with a degree in architecture, he influenced the evolution of Mexican modern architecture and art. Goeitz was influenced by Mexican urbanism, pre-Hispanic architecture, and the expressive sculpture of sculpture in Guadalajara. His teaching moved him to Mexico where he saw art as a conversation rather than a monument to the past. His artwork made him a target for artists who criticized official muralism and new muralism tendencies.
