The demand for reservations for Or'esh, the latest restaurant from The Corner Store group, is high due to live-fire cooking, which is rarer in New York than it should be. The restaurant features a custom-made charcoal grill and chef Nadav Greenberg, who is half-Moroccan and half-Romanian, who channels the flavors of the Levant with childhood home-cooking passion. Or’esh, named for light and fire, applies maple- and oak-fueled flames to most of its meat and fish dishes to great effect. The food is served in a pretty Rockwell Group-designed dining room and bar with several cozy alcoves and Middle Eastern motifs. The author praises the chef's innovative cooking and innovative flavors from Israel, particularly from the country's cuisine.
