A gunman, 31-year-old Cole Allen, opened fire at the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in New Orleans before officers were able to arrest him. The suspect, who reportedly worked as a teacher and a video game developer, was armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives. New Orleans security expert, Donald Lane, reviewed surveillance tape from the incident and noted that Allen was well-armed and well-aware, but did not get far before officers took him down. Despite one officer being hit with a bullet to their protective vest, no injuries were reported. The president, vice president and all senior officials are safe.
