A woman whose ex-partner was jailed for attempting to murder her and her mother has received a compensation payout. The incident occurred in December 2022, a few months after the woman ended their relationship. The former detective had been drinking heavily and was nearly three times over the alcohol limit when he drove his car through the window of the funeral home. On sentencing, Judge Lord Mullholland described his actions as "cowardly and reckless". The settlement of the case has been reached by the woman's solicitors.
