Voters across Kansas are set to decide on school bond issues and proposed increases on localized sales taxes. The biggest race was the proposed 1% sales tax in Wichita, which could lead to cuts to city services and a significant property tax increase for Hutchinson residents. Voters will also decide on a 0.75% increase in Hutchinson's sales tax. In Dighton, a $1.1 million bond will be decided on HVAC improvements to the district’s elementary school. In Newton, voters will consider a $50 million school bond proposal. In Wellington, a previous failed bond vote, the district has proposed a $17.85 million proposal for maintenance needs.
