Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller has won the Democratic primary in Illinois' 2nd Congressional District, defeating former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. who served in Congress in 2012. This victory marks the first result in four heavily contested Democratic congressional primaries in the Chicago area. Miller is expected to replace Rep. Robin Kelly, who is leaving the seat to run for Senate, in the deep-blue, Chicagoland district. The race was heavily influenced by anonymous outside money aimed at Miller, including over $4 million from a group called Affordable Chicago Now.
