Newly graduated MDC students head to MIT to fulfill dreams

A group of Miami-Dade College students are heading to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The students, who came to the United States less than five years ago, are a three-time math olympiad gold medalist and have had their work accepted at international conferences and major publications. They are part of the Miami-dade College's honors program, which provided them with a scholarship and other financial support. Alverez Trimino came from Cuba almost three years ago and plans to study plasma physics at MIT. She credits her time at MDC for helping her discipline and confidence improve during her time there.
