Ty Harvey is returning from a left hamstring injury that sent him to the injured list and is beginning a rehab assignment in the rookie Arizona Complex League. The Padres' catching depth is improving, with Luis Campusano, Rodolfo Duran, Ethan Salas, Ethan Salamon, Lamar King Jr. and two intriguing catchers emerging at Single-A Lake Elsinore. Harvey, who signed for $1.5 million as the Padres' fifth-round pick last year, was hitting.353/.450/.471 through five games with the Storm before being sent to the injury a week into the season. Truitt Madonna, who was drafted six rounds after Harvey, has also started his professional career well, hitting.250/.339/.404 with 16 RBIs in 28 games for the Storm. Madonna is ranked 23 in the Padres system by MLB.com and is 8-for-11 in steal attempts.
