US stocks fell Friday morning as oil prices jumped above $110 a barrel and President Trump's extended deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz failed to impress investors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.7%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell by just 0.9%. The Nasdaq Composite entered correction territory on Thursday after a drop of more than 10% but less than 20%. The Dow is also nearing correction territory, down more than 9% off its all-time high in February, and the SEC is about 7% below its record. Analysts have warned that Iranian attacks on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and Qatar could keep energy prices elevated even if the war ends soon.
