After 106 years in business, Eddie Bauer, a prominent outdoor apparel brand, is closing all its physical retail stores in bankruptcy following a failed attempt to sell its store portfolio during its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. The company canceled a planned auction for its remaining stores after receiving no qualified bids before the March 3 bid deadline. With no buyer secured, the company will continue liquidation sales across all its brick-and-mortar locations. The bankruptcy will not affect the brand’s e-commerce operations or international stores by separate licensees. Despite the store closures, the brand itself will continue to be licensed to other retailers or operators.
