Siemens is planning to sell off most of its 53-acre Wilsonville, Oregon campus, and close its childcare center in June. The German industrial company plans to consolidate remaining operations into a single building and close the childcare center. The move leaves employees and families scrambling to find alternatives in Oregon's tight childcare market. The company says it doesn't need the expansive campus and is focused on long-term presence in the region. The childcare center, which Siemens offers, was particularly beneficial for employees as it provided them with amenities like a cafeteria, gym, and on-site daycare to attract and retain them. Gerry Langeler, who co-founded Mentor in 1981, said the campus’s pending sale marks a transition from a different era.
