The early vote in this year's Wisconsin Supreme Court race has dropped by more than half compared to the previous year's record-breaking contest. From March 24 through April 5, 148,307 Wisconsinites cast early, in-person votes for either conservative Wisconsin Appeals Judge Maria Lazar or liberal Wisconsin Appeal Judge Chris Taylor. This year's race was low profile compared to last year's contest, which saw over 361,000 early votes cast. While absentee ballots are still circulating in Wisconsin, this represents a 50 percent decline from the total of 410,000 absentee ballots reported the day before the 2025 Supreme Court election. The winner of the Supreme Court will replace outgoing conservative Justice Rebecca Bradley, who opted against running for reelection in August.
