A majority of Americans believe government fraud is contributing to their financial strain, according to a new survey by the State Financial Officers Foundation. The survey found 83% of respondents believe fraud or misuse of government funds increases taxes or increased costs for families. Over half said the federal government has not done enough to identify and stop fraud. This comes as President Trump has made cracking down on government waste, fraud and abuse a priority in his second administration. The administration has also launched a new federal task force aimed at identifying and eliminating fraud across government programs. Meanwhile, federal prosecutors have announced progress in several major fraud cases, including in Minnesota and California.
