Mountain View residents have been without clean water for nearly a week after a water main was contaminated during a construction project. The incident occurred when a slurry mix came into contact with a main undergoing repair and upgrade work, causing tests to test positive for coliform bacteria. The affected homes have been placed under a “Do Not Drink Water” notice and can use their water only for toilet flushing. The California State Water Resources Control Board may not clear the affected homes for normal water use until Sunday. The city of Mountain View has ratified an emergency declaration allowing the city to seek state reimbursement from the federal state.
