Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob narrowly won the parliamentary election, but lost his governing majority with left-leaning coalition partners. His liberal Freedom Movement (GS) secured 28.54% of the vote and 29 seats, but the opposition Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), led by former prime minister Janez Janša, took 28.17% and 28 seats. Despite this, Golob has claimed the right to form a government. The election campaign was overshadowed by allegations of corruption.
