AI ended my career, but it doesn’t have to be this way (Opinion)

Derek Mobley, a black man in California, has joined a class action against Workday, an AI hiring system used by thousands of major corporations and governments, alleging that it unlawfully discriminates against qualified applicants based on age. Mobley claims that he applied to hundreds of jobs and often received rejections within minutes or the next day, suggesting human eyes never read his applications. Despite applying for hundreds of positions online, Mobley failed to secure a job. He paid $200 for a career coach’s initial consultation and learned that his application was only feeding the Automated Tracking System machine, which rejected his 40-year veterinary experience.
