Human Rights Campaign targets battleground districts during broader reckoning over LGBTQ+ rights

The Human Rights Campaign, one of the nation's largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, is investing $15 million into the midterms to target Republicans in battleground districts. The organization's president, Kelley Robinson, stated that this election will be a "sea change" for the pro-equality movement and for changing the momentum on the fight for equality. The money will be used to support Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio and Texas. This comes amid a period of setbacks for the LGBTQ+ movement, with President Donald Trump’s administration rolling back protections for transgender people. The group's strategy is to engage in listening, learn, and reposition this work.
