The US government attempted to provide weapons to Iranian protesters during the anti-regime demonstrations, according to President Trump. The weapons were reportedly sent to the Iranian Kurds but did not appear to have made their way to the protesters. Some Kurdish groups disputed these claims. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) estimated that over 7,000 Iranian protesters were massacred by the regime in response to the mass demonstrations. Local officials in Iran suggested that the actual death toll was over 30,000. Trump also threatened to target Iran's bridges and power plants if the country refuses to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
