Actor Damon Wayans Sr. was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 47 and began learning about how to control it. He changed his diet and exercise, and learned more about what to do and how to let a doctor perform it. The comedian and In Living Color star is partnering with Genentech and Diatribe to launch the ‘All Eyes on DME’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness in the Black and brown communities about DME, which is a serious eye condition for patients with type 1 and 2 diabetes that can lead to temporary or even permanent vision loss. Wayans shares his advice for his community on how to cope with diabetes, including using laughter and knowing there's no crime in knowing.
