A frequent flyer from Houston, Kenny Slack, experienced an incident at Kansas City International Airport (KCI) where Southwest Airlines demanded an extra seat due to his weight. Slack, who was close to 400 lbs. last year, was told by Southwest staff that he was in their system as someone who needed the extra seat, but since then has lost 100 lbs. Slack posted the response to the incident to TikTok, where 2.3 million people watched Slack's video about it and over 300,000 liked it. A Southwest spokesperson stated that the airline's policy allows staff to require customers to purchase an additional seat if they meet criteria such as meeting criteria. However, Slack was let on board without paying for the additional seat.
