Doyon Drilling Inc. is working on a damaged drilling rig on the North Slope nearly two months after the incident. Most of the structure has now been removed from the site. The second phase of the response is focused on dismantling and removing the rig from the tundra. As of March 19, about 76% of the rig has been recovered and transported away from the scene. The company has recovered about 2,585 gallons of spilled material from the incident, and plans to continue fluid recovery and removal when it can be done safely. An independent third party has been hired to investigate the accident. No immediate threat to nearby communities, infrastructure, air quality, drinking water sources, waterways, traffic or wildlife.
