California's South Valley doctor has warned residents to stay alert for rattlesnakes as temperatures rise. The most common rattlesnik in Central California is the Northern Pacific rattlesanake. The California Poison Control reports receiving hundreds of rattlesenake exposure calls every year. Dr. Allegra Newland, an emergency medicine doctor with Kaweah Health, has warned that prevention is crucial, as it is easier to prevent a snake bite than to treat one in the emergency room. If not immediately treated, a bite can lead to serious health problems.
