A jury has convicted Michael Lopez of murdering Melvindale police officer Mohamed Said, ending a nearly two-year wait for the victim's family. One of the convictions was for first-degree murder. The jury deliberated for two hours before returning their verdicts. Lopez was accused of shooting and killing Said after a minor altercation escalated. Prosecutors argued that the shooting was not self-defense and Lopez harbored animosity towards police. Sentencing is set for May 18.
