A Maine man, Austin Doucette, has been charged with murder in relation to the death of Makayla Rose DeSantis, 23, who was shot and killed at a residence in Carrabassett Valley. Both DeSants and Doucettes, who worked at Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Resort, both worked at the time of the shooting. The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. local time. Makaya DeSantant was transported to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital in Farmington and later to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she died from her injuries. A GoFundMe page set up by Makayayla's sister, Max DeSvant, has raised over $10,000 for her sister's burial.
