Man sentenced to life in prison after killing fiancée, her son over movie argument

Darin McFarlin, a former California fire captain, has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his fiancée and her 7-year-old son during an argument over a movie. The argument started over the portrayal of the 2008 Christian faith-based film "Fireproof," which McFarflaminated. McFarl then strangled Divodi-Lessa, but she managed to escape and McFlanesc. The murder occurred on August 21 last year. McFlennenn was sentenced to two consecutive life terms without parole and an additional life term, 50 years to life and 15 years.
