Mourners gathered in Tehran for memorial services for the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike on February 28. The ceremonies coincided with the end of the traditional 40-day mourning period for the former supreme leader. A prayer service is scheduled for Friday in Tehran, but it is unclear who will lead it. There is also speculation about his health, with US defence chief Pete Hegseth claiming that his successor, Mojtaba, is "disfigured".
