Rebecca Corry, founder and executive director of the Stand Up for Pits Foundation, has stated that Los Angeles is one of the largest cities in the world and California has the fourth-largest economy on Earth. She argues that this is a leadership issue, starting with Karen Bass and the City Council, who have the power to appoint or remove the general manager of LA Animal Services. The failure to adequately address the issue stems from a false “no kill” narrative that leads to the death of healthy, adoptable dogs in LA shelters. Corry's charity has filed a lawsuit against the city, Bass, the council, animal services, and the LAPD, accusing them of using taxpayer dollars to fight a charity trying to save dogs.
