The Middletown School District (MARSD) will receive $15,719,251 in state aid for 2026-27, a six percent increase from the $14,829,482 received this year. The state determines school funding based on the size of the district, current enrollment, and predicted growth or decrease in enrollment. This increase in funding can lead to layoffs and possibly even closure of schools. The district will present its 2026-'27 budget at the upcoming school board meeting on March 24.
