Laura Hammond, a 52-year-old woman from Mt. Sterling, Ohio, was hailed a hero after she saved her grandson from an out-of-control vehicle by shoving him to safety. The incident occurred at 10 a.m. on Friday in Circleville, which is south of Columbus. A Nissan driven by a 60-year old man went off the side of the road and struck Hammond and a Chevrolet Equinox parked in a driveway. The force of the crash caused the vehicle to spin and Hammond was hit and pinned between the vehicles. She was taken to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where she died of her injuries.
