The Massachusetts State Police Association (MSPCA) is seeking for the adoption of 163 rats from a home in Essex County, New England, which it says represents over 60 percent of the rats typically adopted out. The MSPCA partnered with other shelters across New England to assist with the surrendering of these rats. The organization retained 53 rats for adoption and distributed others to other area shelters. The rats are being split between all four of the MSPPA-Angell’s shelters in Boston, Salem, Methuen and Cape Cod. The agency now has over 70 rats in its care, nearly three-quarters of the total adopted out last year.
