In a heartbreaking Substack essay, he explained how difficult it was for him to process the loss of both parents, especially knowing his brother, Nick Reiner. Jake recalled the moment he learned his parents had both been killed and felt robbed of so many things that day. He also mentioned his parents as his "guiding lights," the foundation of who I am as a human being and the most giving people I have ever known." He paid tribute to them in the essay, stating that their lives were taken away and there was nothing we could do about it.
