Google and Tesla think we’re managing the electrical grid all wrong

Google, Tesla, and data center developer Verrus have formed a new group called Utilize, arguing that the electrical grid is underutilizing. The group, which includes Carrier, Renew Home, Sparkfund, and smart electrical panel startup Span, argues that smarter ways to use this capacity exist. Utilise, which also advocates for policies that encourage the adoption of new technologies, argues battery storage, demand response, and virtual power plants are underutilized. However, many regulators and politicians remain wary of these new technologies.
