Ruthvi Shah and her brother, Dhruv Shah, who had been separated for 12 years due to immigration issues, opened Indian-Mexican fusion restaurant Masalamex in Westfield, New Jersey in 2025. The siblings were reunited after their separation at a family restaurant in Edison, run by their parents, brought them back together in 2016. The restaurant has been receiving significant love and requests for more locations already. Over the past year, Ruthvi Shah has noted some notable menu additions, including the Naandilla, which she described as her top-selling menu item. To celebrate the first anniversary of Masalamelx, the restaurant will host deals including wine tasting and giveaways at 5 p.m.
