Michael Pfleger, leader of St. Sabina Church in Chicago, has called on President Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to "look inside their souls" regarding their comments against Pope Leo XIV. This comes after Trump posted a social media post criticizing Pope Leo as "catering to the Radical Left" and "WEAK on Crime". The president later backpedaled, saying the pope was "inviting conversation." Pope Leo has called for a "decisive change of course" that avoids conflict and exploitation of land for military gain. The feud with the pope and use of religious imagery has also been condemned by some politicians.
