Tampa Bay among worst regions for pollen sufferers

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has identified Tampa Bay as the worst for pollen allergies, ranking 20th, 28th and 29th respectively. This ranking is based on total pollen scores, over-the-counter allergy medication use, and the number of allergy specialists in the area. All three metro areas experienced high or very high tree pollen counts, driven by oak, alder and birch trees. Newer antihistamines like Claritin, Allegra and Zyrtec can offer relief without the drowsiness associated with older anti-histamines.
