Jersey Shore town is making room for affordable housing with a $23M expansion

Ocean City, New Jersey, is expanding its affordable housing program with a $23M expansion aimed at preserving options for working-class residents. The expansion is being funded by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, which is providing millions to help finance construction. The Ocean City Housing Authority has managed about 121 dwellings for low-to-moderate earners and owns two other properties. The new units are expected to be livable by 2027 or 2028. The project has been in the works for about a decade.
