Iranians outside of the country are marking the Persian new year, Nowruz, with heavy hearts due to the country's ongoing war with Israel and the United States. Shayan Ghadimi's mother, who returned to Iran from Paris to see the uprising, was left alone during the crackdown and subsequent conflict. An Iranian cultural center in Paris, which last year hosted music events for Nowruiz, said it's in mourning. Some Iranian American communities also cancelled or scaled back festivities. With communications largely severed, finding out about family and friends are a stressful ordeal. Celebrating Nowrouz with family helps to cope with the psychological pressure of the war.
