Warner Music Group (WMG) has announced plans to acquire Israel-based Revelator, an independent distribution and services company, to expand its reach to the indie segment of the music industry. The acquisition follows a two-year period of interest from Warner Music Group, which had previously attempted to acquire Paris-based independent music company Believe. Revelator provides digital distribution, royalty tracking, financial accounting, and rights and catalog management to indie labels, distributors, and artists. The company's CEO, Bruno Guez, stated that the acquisition was due to the strong growth of Revelator. WMG plans to use Revelator's technology for all Warner labels and its indie distribution arm, ADA, while fully integrating new technology into a legacy major will take years.
