OpenAI has criticised Anthropic, its leading AI rival, for operating on a smaller curve and suggesting it is more compute constrained than its competitor. The two companies, which are collectively valued at over $1 trillion, are competing in the rapidly evolving market for large language models and artificial intelligence services. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, stated that the company plans to have 30 gigawatts of compute by 2030 and expects Anthropic to have roughly 7 to 8 gigawatts by the end of 2027. The company also highlighted its unique approach to train more capable models and reduce costs of serving each one.
