Europe's airport industry group, the Airports Council International Europe (ACI), has warned that Europe could face a systemic jet fuel shortage within three weeks unless the Strait of Hormuz opens up. The group has called for urgent EU-wide action to secure supplies before the peak summer travel season. The ACI stated that a fuel shortage would significantly harm the European economy, adding to the macroeconomic impact of rising oil prices. The body also suggested the temporary lifting of import restrictions on jet fuel under the EU's new methane regulation, which will come into force in January 2027.
