His defense team had asked for a hearing regarding their allegations that the Oklahoma attorney general’s office improperly accessed attorney-client jail calls. The judge ruled that Swadleys should have safeguarded his calls and had been notified the calls were recorded. Despite these objections, Swadly's attorneys were granted more time before sentencing. The Oklahoma Attorney General’�s Office defended the decision, stating it was correct.
