The Tokyo District Court has suspended a suspended prison sentence for former social media influencer Reika Kuroki for evading over 150 million yen in taxes. Kuroki, who operates under the name Reika Miyazaki, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, suspended for four years, and her company was ordered to pay a 40-million-yen fine. However, social media users have criticized the court's decision as being too soft for such a crime. The indictment alleges that Kuroki manipulated records to claim fictitious outsourcing expenses, hiding about 157 million yen of corporate and consumption taxes from authorities. In Japan, tax evasion exceeding the 100-million yen is considered the threshold for an unsuspended prison term.
