NASA is moving ahead with the Artemis III mission, which will take the next step towards its goal of landing on the Moon in 2028 and launching towards Mars. The mission will be a demonstration mission in low-earth orbit in mid-2027 to test commercial landers from SpaceX and/or Blue Origin. The next milestone is April 20th, when NASA will transport the top four-fifths of the Space Launch System core stage from Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to Kennedy Space Center in Florida for stacking and launch preparations. As the Artemis program progresses, Marshall Space Flight Center, which manages the SLS program, will see its role grow, particularly focusing on landing the lunar surface.
