A massive Claude Code leak revealed that Claude Code, a popular tool for interacting with users, is actively scanning chat messages for signs of frustration, such as swear words. The leak also revealed that Anthropic's Claude Code includes a file called "userPromptKeywords.ts" with a simple pattern-matching tool called "hypogomen". This tool sweeps each message submitted to Claude for certain text matches. The regex function used is supported by a wide variety of programming languages and has been in use for decades. While the Claude Code search function was discovered in Claude Code via the Anthropic leak, the code for Claude's desktop and web apps was not included so we don't know what's going on under the hood of those interfaces.
