Volcano Vista shocks second-seeded La Cueva to win metro tournament title

Volcano Vista, a fourth-seeded team, won the APS Metro Softball Championships with an 11-1 win over No. 2 La Cueva, marking the program's first metro tournament title under head coach Melody Smith. The Hawks had five home runs from multiple players, with Jewel Candelaria contributing a significant contribution. The team outplayed La CueVA 14-7. Despite the loss, Bears coach Ron Romero said his team will continue to improve. The victory follows a strong week for Volcano Vista, which had previously beaten top-seeding Cibola.
