A man has been sentenced to life without parole in relation to the kidnapping and murder of 19-year-old Melanie Camacho in Madera County in 2023. The Honorable Ernest LiCalsi sentenced Jasso to an additional 25 years to life and 4 years, 4 months in state prison. The case began when Camacho was reported missing in November 2023 after telling her mother she was meeting with her ex-boyfriend, Jasso. Following her disappearance, investigators found human remains in an orchard believed to be hers. Jasso and his friend, Jose Cornelio Lopez-Hernandez, were both arrested in connection to the case.
