A virtual guest lecture brought together students and faculty from Lone Star College-University Park and Singapore Polytechnic for a cross-continental learning experience focused on data mining and machine learning on April 9. The event was part of an early step in a growing international academic collaboration. The session included students in LSC-University park’s AI, Data Analytics and Computer Science programs being introduced to the Orange Data Mining platform, a tool used to analyze data and demonstrate how machine learning models are built. The collaboration was supported by Mohammed Ashour, Ph.D., who led follow-up efforts with Singapore Poly Technic on behalf of the college’s Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program. This initiative supports LSC’S efforts to strengthen workforce preparation and expand access to learning experiences influenced by a global economy.
